Micro:Bit Virtual Pet (Tamagotchi)

We conducted this workshop at two local schools based on a virtual pet toy from the 1990s known as the Tamogotchi: taught skills included exposure to Microsoft MicroBit and basic computer programming logic. This workshop was also conducted at the Bannerman Road Community Academy on November 27, 2019.

I along with members of the Urban Gulls Project at the University of Bristol Fluid and Aerodynamics Research Group gave a presentation to a group of 20 children (aged 12-14) on how engineers look to the natural world for design inspiration. We then gave the children miniature drones and mathematical modelling problems for them to engage with after the demonstration.

Bio-Inspired Engineering: From Gulls to Drones - This workshop was delivered to a group of 20 Year 6 to Year 8 students. They learnt how engineers and ecologists are exploring flight strategies of urban gulls to improve drone technology. In conjunction with the Urban Gulls Project, University of Bristol Fluid and Aerodynamics Research Group.
